We are Mercor

Mercor Capital is a student-led investment advisory and research firm dedicated to bridging the gap between theoretical education and practical investment experience. We support student investors by providing them with the research, expertise, network, and resources they need to start or grow. This hands-on approach empowers our analysts with the knowledge and experience they need to succeed in the financial industry and the global economy.

We syndicate our research to major financial publications including Seeking Alpha and InvestorPlace.

Our Mission

"An investment in knowledge pays the best interest." — Benjamin Franklin

Teens want to invest, but don't know where to start.

1.
75% of teens say investing is important to them, but fewer than 1 in 4 have actually started.
2.
3 out of 4 teens don't feel confident or knowledgeable about personal finance.
3. 73% of teens want more personal finance education, and 51% want education for new and young investors.

We are the only investment advisory for teens.

At Mercor, we believe our ethos of financial literacy and breakthrough investment can be fostered as early as in high school. While involvement in securities trading has historically been used by wealthier individuals, markets are beginning to democratize. Many young people now see investment as a trampoline to grow their wealth. Financial information is more available today than ever before, but it is still inaccessible and opaque to many. Financial literacy programs have historically been absent from many school curriculums, making it difficult for students to build a strong foundation in financial knowledge, and deterring many from pursuing finance as a career. And without a strong foundation in financial education, investing in the stock market can be difficult to navigate.

That's why we founded Mercor—the first education-oriented investment advisory for students, by students, no matter where you study, how old you are, or how they identify. Whether they're a client or one of our analysts, we provide free, quality financial education to students from all backgrounds and socioeconomic levels.

Wteach finance and investing skills that will last a lifetime and empower students to take control of their financial future.

Closing the Gender Investing Gap

"Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago." Warren Buffett

When it comes to gender diversity, investment management has not kept pace with other industries.

1. There is expected to be $145 trillion assets under management by 2025.
2. 1% of US financial assets are managed by women or individuals from diverse backgrounds.
3. Globally, the percentage of female fund managers has consistently hovered around 12% over the past two decades.

For decades now, the industry talent has come from one small corner of the talent pool. The compounding result is that the industry is missing out on the intelligence, creativity, and values of women and gender nonbinary individuals, especially when it comes to managing money. While evidence supports the need for gender diversity, young women are less aware that a career in investment management can be meaningful and impactful work, receiving less encouragement because of the perception that women are less interested in finance than men.

And the gender gap emerges as young as 13.

1.
33% of boys are confident in their personal finance knowledge compared to 21% of girls.
2. 46% of girls haven't invested because they don't feel confident, while only 37% of boys said confidence held them back.
3. Girls are more likely to learn about donating and giving, while boys are more likely to learn about investing.

At Mercor, we are committed to increasing the number of women in finance by investing in them from day one, with 52% of our team identifying as a girl.
